We are pleased to announce Brighton Block has won an award in the Restoration Category at the 2019 Awards of Excellence in Concrete presented by the Alberta Chapter of the American Concrete Institute presented on May 31st earlier this year.
The nomination was for our shoring structure and its innovative design and integration into the permanent building structure. Kudos to PCL for the submission and for their on-site execution and collaboration, to RJC for their engineering design and support, to HSEA for overall integration and to the City of Edmonton for their support.
It continues to be a pleasure to work with an entire team that is dedicated to excellence although special mention needs to go to PCL’s Tim Dalphond who first imagined it, RJC’s Creag Vogel who designed it and PCL’s Marty Stepanick who executed it.
A video showing just how intricate the process was to shore four 107 year old brick walls “mid-block” can be found here. Information about the “Awards of Excellence in Concrete” event can be found here.
